Autumn poetry

Fall

 It’s getting darker now
My friends and I discuss in hushed voices
About how we're getting ready to fall
When mother tree tucks us in
I dream about a world on the ground

Tentacles

by Harry K

Branches, naked
and brown like a teddy bears fur
in the shape of an octopus’ tentacles
falling and hanging from a tree.
 Wind snoring and howling
like an old man in bed.
Bark - old and wrinkly
like his face.

Surfing the Wind

by Matthew B.

Distracting, amazing, yellow blazing
Stuck, chains too tight, this is their chance to be free.
Breeze blows flipping like fish fins
flying, falling, surfing the wind.
Dying-
their wish comes true to live free and be alone.

Bare as a bone.
He stands still; someday he will have
a tight group of friends again.
He will truly be happy…
For a while.

VELVET NINJA STARS

by McKenzie S.

Shiny wet grass
velvet ninja stars
twinkle down from the oak
like  spaghetti on a fork
Branches curved like boomerangs
 bare after wind
Branches getting the runway ready
Tall brown figures stiff and sad
now their cheery, lime and ginger dress is
gone.

DOWN

by Santino

Leaves crunch like French-fries,
dangle like noodles
on chopsticks.

Leaves
slip off a twig like a fish
trying to escape
from my hook.

Leaves dance
their way down
like ballerinas in red tutus.

Branches curl
like a liquorice roll
bark chips
like nails getting cut.

Shiny moss scattered
all over trees
piles of leaves
like pyramids.

Leaves crunched up
like ashes
after a bonfire.

Leaves

brown, old and ugly
like a witch’s nose
crunchy like stale bread.

Branches,
bumpy like a climbing wall
swerve like big waves.

Leaves, red like a mad man
orange like juice
yellow like hard cheese.

Untitled, by Gus

Thin old leaves
hang like a wrecking ball
on the end of a chain.

A curved purple leaf
quivers
on a thick brown branch.

A bald Silver Birch
stands like the Statue of Liberty
a leaf stem
as long as a baby snake.

Saffron leaves
like a bowl of nachos.

A game of rugby on a freezing icy day,
getting thrown on the ground
walking home with dirty legs.

The Autumn Poem

by Makenzy M

Leaves, crackling, gold,
 like a crunchy bar. Branches,
brown, thin, like an old man’s arms.
 Leaves, quivering, hanging off.
   Me and my friends play
rugby union at school, I hear people
yelling from the side line, I have
dirt on my legs and I’m laughing
 and I have butterflies in
 my stomach.

Crackly Leaves

by Rebekah

Orange  red  yellow
peachy  green
spiky  soft  leaves
I stroll through
Crunch  munch

I  love  to  build  leaf piles  with my  friends
and  jump in  them.
I even love to have leaf fights
with my brother and dad.

The weather is windy
but the sun is up.
The clouds are gliding  through  the air
like a gymnast swinging on the bar.

Autumn poem, by Soverin

Old ugly branches hung
like bats in their cave.
Bald tree
with curved witches nails.
The wind blew
like a tornado.
Leaves like red flames.
A nosey fantail followed me
for food.
