Abandoned Places

We used photos of abandoned places as our story starters.
Ben E chose this one, which inspired his flying saucer story.
“Wow!” I’d never have been able to think of seeing such an amazing thing in my entire life full of sorrow and being distraught, but now I was glad!

The reason I was so cheerful is that I was standing face to face with a twenty-foot high double decker Chinese model authentic flying saucer holiday residence for the wealthy. Although it was not flying at that moment in time and I had sought it to be. Can you imagine seeing a flying house? Many people would have found it a bit bizarre.

Ben's Grandad

We have been writing character descriptions. Here is an excerpt from Ben E's description of his grandfather:

My grandad is a great man; he is because he’s very knowledgeable. He’s a tall bald man with red-ish skin and white hair, and mostly always wears soft and cosy warm old-fashioned clothes.
He’s a well-educated man and would find it easy to go through school all over again or better said in a simpler way, he’s smart. On the other hand, it would be very boring to do so.
And yes, it is possible to be smart, kind and funny all in the same lifetime, for my grandad has succeeded in all those subjects, yet they are not subjects although they are the most important in life and to succeed in them you are to succeed in life. For that is one of the reasons why my grandad is a great old man.
A second reason is the fact that he helps me with my homework by guiding me, giving me tips and leading me towards success, which I am very thankful for.
He also likes to garden. When I was little (4-6) we grew beans together and we’d watch how high they would get and I pretended, well believed, it would grow into the clouds and there’d be giants, like in the novel Jack and the Beanstalk.
