Published Authors!

Congratulations to this amazing bunch of talented Russley students, who have had stories and poems published in Toitoi.

Kelly, Taralina, Santino, Lukas and Noah all had their writing published in Toitoi Issue 5. Anna and Emma had writing published in issue 4 along with Kim's amazing artwork.

What a fantastic achievement to be published in this top quality journal at such a young age.

Look out for Toitoi in the school library, or see Mrs Koster if you'd like to borrow a copy.

Things

Some of our writers wrote poems for the recent Poetry Box competition. The challenge was to choose an object (something inanimate- not alive) and write a poem about it. Here are some of their entries:

My Treasure

by Noah H, age 8

From 3 generations
a little smooth and wrinkly
with a tiny square hole
I can spy through

It’s got curious symbols
around the edges

a secret treasure
for me and my
coin
grandad

Shhhh!

The Monkey Bars

by Kendra, age 7

pink, smooth, slippery
tiny webs on it
because it’s very old
and when it’s very cold

it goes icy
wet and slippery
it makes your hands
go numb

and it makes a squeaky sound
when I hop on
my hands and legs
doing a flip

Panda

by Michaela E, age 7

Soft fur
squeaky and snuggly
it came from my great grandma.
It is a toy panda
I sleep with it all the time.
When I cuddle with it
I think of her.

Cell Phone

by Zion S, age 8

I hear my sister’s alarm
clicking and ticking

The ring tone vibrating crazily
like a mad dog.

She plays annoying songs and
I turn into the Hulk.
