How to Write a Poem

HOW I WRITE A POEM (by Emily M)

Pencil flicks, pen clicks
Squeeze out twink, squeeze out brain
Rub out words, rip page
Jump the line

now next page
Phew! Nearly there!

Pen scrubs, rubber rubs,
Look outside, sing a song!
Hey! This is not part of the process!
Oops! Sorry! Let’s continue again.
The precious last word,        “Poem”
and a
dot.

Click, red pen, and rule the line!
Da-da!
That’s how I write a poem.

WHAT CAN WE SEE?

EYE POEM

Look ahead, what can you see?
I see a ray of sunshine
looking down
through green wrinkled paper.

I see mould
like melted chocolate
covering an elephant’s trunk.

Look above, what can you see?
We see five camouflaged fingers
crawling up high,
growing green coated nail polish.

Look below, what can you see?
We see a stud of zebra
crossing a cluster
of gleaming diamonds.
