Nature Inspired Poetry

AT THE BEACH
by Anastasia

As I sit down on the itchy, scratchy sand
I see...
candyfloss clouds spinning around,
the blazing sun beaming
down on me;
it feels like a ton of blankets
have been thrown on top of me.

OCEAN
by Holly

hear the ocean rumble
little crabs jump into hiding
sand shuffles and sea shells jump

CANDYFLOSS CLOUDS
by Holly

It was a still day, birds were happily chirping,
tall shady trees covered my friends and me.

The warm breeze made the dry grass
float about in tiny tornados.

Little flying bugs came out to play,
the candyfloss clouds made pictures in the sky
as they floated away.

OUTSIDE
by Lahana

the clouds look like marshmallows
the birds sound like angels
the grass is like ants in my pants

AT THE BEACH
by Lahana

I lie on the soft sand
it sticks to me like glue
I dip my little toes
     one
         by
            one
into the clear water below

THE ANT
by Danielle

the ant chuckled
it chased my pen
across the page

BUG IN THE DIRT
by Danielle

a bug in the dirt, snug and warm
but the forecast says
there's gonna be a storm

THE MUSEUM AFTER THE SHAKE
by Todd

My class is in the museum
(it's not affected by the Earthquake)
now my history thinking is awake...
(these clay Maori people are so fake)

We decide to go outside to get some fresh air;
now I've ended up all the way up here.

I'm high up, in a huge oak tree;
I admire the beautiful peacock fountain I see,
but the fountain is under repair
from the trembling earthquakes
that I fear.

THE NASTY DAY
by Jayda

Along came the bitterly, blustery wind
clouds raged
sun slipped away
behind angry clouds
wind whipped up
leaves twirled around
            like a tornado
