Hot Spot Poetry Event a Success

On Tuesday night Russley School hosted Paula Green's Hot Spot Poetry Tour

We were treated to poetry readings from Gavin Bishop, Bill Nagelkerke, Doc Drumheller, James Norcliffe, Greg O'Connell and Helen Jacobs as well as some young emerging poets. Representing Russley well were talented writers Caleb Stewart (his poem 'The Poet' was published in The Treasury of NZ Poetry for Children) and Monica (her piece was published in The Letterbox Cat).

'Place Poem Competition Winners' Anthony, Jayda, Jordyn, Emily, Monica, Thomas, Yash, Bridget, Tyler and Sacha read their fantastic poems beautifully, in front of a crowd of more than 200 people. We were also wowed by some wonderful performance poetry by Room 11 children, who presented Paula Green's Rain, Brian Turner's Little Furry Cats, Sarah Aileen's The Pumperknickle Pirate, and the grand finale - Apirana Taylor's Haka.

Here are a few photos from the event, and you can view more here.
