Athletics day poetry

I could feel my heart racing.
I saw people getting ready.
I could taste sweat.
I could feel the grass on my feet.
I heard people cheering.
On your marks
get set... GO!

Read on for more athletics day poetry by our year 5 and 6 authors:

Athletics Poem

Shot-put bangs
shaking the ground
Discus flying
falling
Thump! Thump! Thump!

Smiling cheering children
Go! Go! Go!
Speeding feet
Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!

- by Kim S

On Your Marks!

On your marks, get set, go!!!
People screaming as loud as a tornado.
Sweat pouring down into my mouth.
Ice block soothing.
Heart pounding with butterflies.
Kids playing like daffodils in the wind.
Shot-put landing, thump, thump!

Athletics Day

Blossoms blowing
Streaming blood
Heart racing
Stomping past
Discus Flying

- by Phoenix

Athletics

shot-put vibrations
legs aching
people sprinting around me
blossom petals twirling off trees
smell victory
ice-block dripping down my mouth
sad athletics day is over

- by Farren

Athletics Day
by Ella S

Breezy wind
hot sun in my eyes
people cheering happily

Mr Ish announced the winner
for shot put
ME!

My heart was beating
like a crazy washing machine

The delicious taste of iceblocks
Fast relay team
like a t-rex stomping

I smell sand
Achoo!
Sand blowing everywhere

People sprinting
and
jumping
