The University of Canterbury Teece Museum invited young writers to take part in the Teece Museum’s biennial poetry competition. They were looking for creative and interesting poems written either in response to the current exhibition Fantastic Feasts, or in response to an object from the Logie Collection.
Guest judges for 2019 were Professor Paul Millar of the University of Canterbury Department of English, and poet Dr Lynley Edmeades, from the University of Otago Department of English, alongside Dr Patrick O’Sullivan, University of Canterbury Department of Classics.
Congratulations to Russley writers, Ella-Rose Evans, William Baird and Reuben Veenstra, who took up the challenge and entered this competition.
The judges were very impressed with the high standard of entries and range of poems for this competition. Although their poems were not among the prize-winners this time, the judges did note that Ella-Rose, William and Reuben should be highly commended. Well done to these writers, and we encourage them all to continue their fabulous writing and to continue sharing their work with us.
