Garden Mysteries

Last week our writers spent some time in the Russley garden, seeking inspiration for our stories.

We took note of the sights, smells and sounds... taking particular care to use specific nouns. Instead of writing about a flower- what kind of flower? Instead of saying plant or tree- what kind? Is it a daisy, delphinium, cabbage, snow pea, onion...?

Once we had some ideas for how to describe our story garden, we brainstormed character ideas and storylines.

Who or what would be an interesting character to stumble across in your back yard? What interesting or mysterious thing might you discover in your garden? Buried treasure? A circus in the garden shed? A grumpy worm? A box of secrets?

Watch this space...
