This term our Russley Writers' Club explored many different genres of writing and worked on creating poetry and prose for a variety of purposes. We have submitted poems and narratives to competitions, such as the 'Poems on Buses' and 'Poetry Box's Winter Poetry Challenge'.
Inspired by the stunning poetry videos the teams created for Poetry Box, we looked at another purpose for writing - making movies.
Our Russley Writers' Club teams wrote screenplays for three-minute films. They were each given two props to include (an umbrella and a magic wand) and the line: "You can always trust a librarian."
The challenge was a lot more difficult than the writers first thought. It involved a lot of teamwork, and the ability to adapt and edit on the go as they were working through the filming process. Watching movies will never be the same - we will have a whole new appreciation for scriptwriters!
