Finn conjures up so many wonderful wintry images in this poem, you can almost taste it!
A RAINY DAY
It’s so cold I have to tuck my hands into my sleeves.
The clouds are grey like paper in the sink. Leaves damp.
The ground is as slippery as ice.
To jump over puddles I take a running start
and then I simply jump the puddles like a rabbit.
When it hails it’s literally like the clouds are shooting at us.
Fact: Do you know that clouds aren’t as fluffy as you think?
In fact, they’re not fluffy at all, they’re actually just big drops of water,
that’s why it rains.
It’s so rainy and splashy that I have to stay indoors.
On days like this my absolute favourite thing to eat is tomato soup
and bread with butter.
I’m not sure whether you EAT soup
or DRINK it.
It’s a liquid and yet it goes in a bowl and you use a spoon.
There are lots of activities to do on a rainy day.
There are books, there are games. What I like to do is of course, EAT.
But, what do you do when there’s no food except vegetables?
